Who We Are

Located in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago, Midtown Cultural Center helps men to lead flourishing and meaningful lives through the ordinary events of each day. Midtown offers formation that supports men in their various roles as:

  • Husband and father;

  • Dedicated and effective professional;

  • Friend to many;

  • Contributing member of the community in which they live.

And all this within the context of their identity as children of God.

What We Do

While offering activities to men from across the greater Chicago area and from every walk of life, the center has a particular focus on the formation of young professional men. Some of these are single and others married with toddlers at home. The spiritual aspect of the center's activities is entrusted to the Prelature of Opus Dei.

See the Activities page for information on upcoming events.

History of Midtown

Midtown was started in 1965 at 718 S. Loomis Street in the Little Italy neighborhood of Chicago. The three buildings that made up the original Midtown had previously operated as a settlement house for Italian immigrants. The Center moved to its current location in the Bucktown neighborhood in 1993.

From the start, Midtown offered activities for men, most of whom were working-class Chicagoans. Today the Center continues to serve men coming through its various activities and programs.
