Upcoming Events at Midtown
Weekend Seminar on Marriage and Fatherhood
Midtown will sponsor a weekend workshop for young professional men. Its aim is to help participants to prepare well for marriage and fatherhood. These are the most beautiful and challenging callings one can receive. The workshop will address the richness of a Christian vision for marriage and share practical advice on how to prepare for it.
We will meet on September 25-27, 2026 at a lake house just over the Wisconsin border. Click here for more information and to register.
Professional Mentoring
Midtown helps young men to grow professionally by providing individual mentorship and facilitating introductions to leaders in various fields who can foster career progression and individual formation. Professional mentoring is offered in a manner that considers the whole of a person’s life, integrating the professional with social and spiritual elements.
Visit the Professional Mentoring Initiative page to learn more and to register to be matched with a professional mentor.
Volunteer Opportunities
Midtown has sponsored service opportunities, including visits with the elderly and assistance with food pantries. Young professionals who take part in Midtown activities are also encouraged to get involved with the neighboring Midtown Center for Boys, through which they can volunteer as mentors for urban youth.
Men Alive Series
The Men Alive series takes a light-hearted but earnest look at skills and knowledge a guy should know as he matures further into adulthood—things that go into helping him become a well-rounded and knowledgeable gentleman who can lead a family and be a support to friends.
Subject matter experts will lead each monthly gathering for young professional men in a relaxed, social setting, giving people time and space to get to know one another before and after the planned activity, be it learning about the fundamentals of financial planning, or being a classy host, or appreciating good art and music.
Visit the Calendar of Events for details on the next gathering.
Evenings of Recollection
Evenings of Recollection for young professionals are held on the second Tuesday of every month from 7 – 9pm at Midtown Cultural Center (1825 North Wood Street). A pizza dinner is served before the Recollection beginning at 6:15pm. The evening consists of times of prayer led by priests and talks given by laymen, focusing on how to grow in the spiritual life and integrate faith into daily life. An emphasis is placed on sanctifying marriage and family life, as well as one’s professional work. Recollections include Eucharistic Adoration. There are also opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Refreshments and fellowship end each evening.
Retreats
Midtown sponsors weekend and midweek retreats for men at Shellbourne Conference Center. Located on 40 acres of forested land in Valparaiso, IN, Shellbourne retreats are given by priests of Opus Dei. Some of these are directed specifically to young professionals (aged 30 and under). Click here for the full schedule of Shellbourne retreats.
